The Gate

The Gate tells the epic tale of an ancient tribal civilization that encounters an extraterrestrial being through a mysterious portal. In Segment 1, “The Arrival,” the tribe welcomes the visitor with awe and reverence, performing a ceremonial ritual filled with section features and powerful ensemble moments. In Segment 2, “The Sacrifice,” fear of the being’s departure leads the tribe to offer a sacrifice, led by a dramatic cymbal feature and an intense battery sequence. In the final segment, “The Departure/Take Us With You,” the tribe is rewarded with divine knowledge, celebrating with joyful, energetic music before being swept away through the Gate in a hauntingly beautiful front ensemble passage—never to be seen again.
