Into the Abyss

Into the Abyss is a gripping marching band show that follows a cave explorer’s harrowing journey from curiosity to despair and ultimately triumph. The descent begins with a haunting trombone solo of Radiohead’s “Sail to the Moon,” quickly turning ominous with Alan Silvestri’s The Abyss and Michael Markowski’s “The Cave You Fear.” Trapped in darkness, the explorer’s longing for escape is expressed through a mournful mellophone solo inspired by David Bowie’s “Life on Mars.” The tension builds as a powerful percussion feature by John Max McFarland drives the escape, leading to a victorious reprise of “Sail to the Moon” and the triumphant conclusion of The Abyss. With striking visual transitions from light to darkness and back, Into the Abyss is a dramatic and emotionally charged adventure that leaves audiences on the edge of their seats.
