Encounters is a captivating show that explores the four main types of UFO encounters, separated into "kinds" rather than movements. The show begins with a soundscape of actual 911 calls to set the mood for the first segment, The First Kind, where visual UFO sightings are represented through flying saucer sounds, gestures pointing to the sky, and a Theremin sound played by an EWI soloist. The Second Kind, focused on crop circles, features a mellow, ballad-like segment with a hang drum soloist, reflecting the beauty of these formations. The Third Kind, which involves humanoid entities, is a percussion feature with a soundscape reflecting hypnosis and a mistaken identity of an alien. The Fourth Kind, the most terrifying, builds intensity as the band is "abducted" by a UFO, culminating in a stunning visual effect where the band disappears under fabric. Encounters offers a unique, dynamic experience for bands with varied styles and can be tailored to fit any ensemble's needs.
