SHOW SYNOPSIS:
"Stay in the Light" is a found footage horror film about a winter percussion ensemble who disappeared while rehearsing their show "The Joy of Light". The middle of their run through is interrupted by a power outage in which chaos ensues. The drumline members and staff find out that they are not alone in the darkened gym and anyone who fails to stay in the light is taken away by a creature that lurks in the shadows.
The Show was commisioned by the Avon Lake High School Indoor Percussion ensemble in Avon Lake Ohio for their 2021 season. The ensemble competed in the eShowcase category in WGI as well as the Ohio Indoor Performance Association (OIPA). All recording and audio mixing was done by Jeff Larch. Although the eShowcase classification does not account for difficulty of content, one could classify this show as "Regional A" with moments of "Scholastic A" in the front ensemble and battery. The show also prominently features some advanced passages for snare soloist that can be easily modified to fit your ensemble. It is also recommended that a visual ensemble (or singular performer) be utilized for the "creature(s)" character throughout the show. Click here to see a show video performance.
