Descent Into Madness is the perfect marching band show for the times.  Exploring the idea of someone slowly unraveling at the seams, the show utilizes popular orchestral pieces from Berlioz, Camille Saint-Saëns, Tears for Fears, and Giuseppe Verdi.  Written perfectly for small to medium sized ensembles, this will surely be a popular show for bands looking to get a big, mature sound out of their smaller ensemble.

Segment 1 begins with a percussion setup working its way into an impact moment to start the show.  Berlioz's 4th movement of Symphonie Fantastique is on full display as small ensembles are featured as well as full ensemble moments throughout the movement.  The segment takes a wild turn during the percussion feature which utilizes music from Franz Schubert's "Der Erlkonig".  The segment builds to an intense ending and then transitions to Segment 2 with sound effects of breathing and air gingerly rushing by.

Segment 2 features Gary Jules's "Mad World" and features low brass soloists.  The segment offers a moment of calm and meloncholy before the final dive into insanity commences.

Segment 3 transitions with a percussion ostinato over top of the solo violin material from Camille Saint-Saëns's famous piece "Danse Macabre".  A strong and recognizable vocal sample propels our character into complete chaos to begin the final segment of the show.  The final segment utlizes Verdi's famous Dies Irae from his requiem as well as a dubstep/EDM breakdown of Danse Macabre as the insanity ramps up.  The show ends almost unhinged as the ensemble hits those final 8th notes to put a final button on the show.
