A group of teenagers attend a traveling Carnival show in their hometown.  Upon walking through the entrance the energetic teens are greeted by a looming Carnival Barker who ushers them through the rides.  First up, The Tilt-a-Whirl!  Musically littered with twists and turns through use of chromaticism, crescendo/diminuendo phrases, metric accelerandos and various toy percussion instruments (Flexatones, and Ratchets), the movement takes the viewer on a wild adventure through a relentless ride aimed to bewilder and disorient the Carnival goers.  After the ride comes to an abrupt halt, the Carnival Barker guides the young adolescent teens to a more soothing and gentle ride: The Merry-Go-Round!  As they enjoy the mellow atmosphere of the attraction they can't help but notice that there's something not quite right about the Carnival Barker.  Before they can put their finger on it the benevolent ride dumps them into The Demon Coaster, the wildest roller coaster in the world!  The Carnival Barker reveals his sinister identity and before the teens realize, it's too late!  Will they make it to the end of the ride and live to see tomorrow, or will the murderous Carnival Barker claim yet another set of victims during his villainous tour around the country?

The Front Ensemble book is holistically A Class with very little 4-mallet technique.  The show offers opportunity to expand 4-mallet technique if students are capable.  
 
- The Glockenspiel book contains the following skill-sets:
  • Static 16th note passage (ie - metered trill) at 180BPM
  • 16th chromatic runs at 168BPM (only 2 counts)
  • Descending metric decellerando chromatic run (triplets, 8th notes, quarter-note triplets)
- The vibraphone book contains the following skill-sets:
  • 8th-note triplet into 16th note chromatic runs at 168BPM
  • Descending metric decellerando chromatic run (triplets, 8th notes, quarter-note triplets)
- The marimba book requires the following skill-sets:
  • One instance of block chord 4-mallet technique in the Marimba 2 Part
  • 8th-note triplet into 16th note chromatic runs at 168BPM
  • Two-mallet 16th note, 8th note, and 8th note triplet chromatic runs at 168BPM 
- The Xylophone Book requires the following skill sets
  • 8th-note triplet into 16th note chromatic runs at 180BPM
  • Descending metric decellerando chromatic run (triplets, 8th notes, quarter-note triplets)
The Synthesizer parts contain fairly basic patches throughout the show, including:

A sampler or some other way to trigger samples is REQUIRED throughout the show.  The part is utilized in the Synthesizer part. This can either be done through a sampler like a Roland SPD-S, Yamaha DTX, or other similar sample drum pad.  If the Synthesizer is capable to load samples into its memory bank, that is ideal for this show.  It is also possible to trigger samples via a computer. utilizing free sampler programs.  The audio samples are included in the download package after purchasing.  If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact us to help you.  
 
The auxiliary percussion parts are kept fairly "busy" with a lot of quick instrument changes.  Although this show is possible to perform with two auxiliary percussion members, if auxiliary percussion members aren't as proficient as performers, it is recommended to utlilize additonal players to cover the parts.  
 
The bass guitar part is fairly straight forward, but utilizes slap and pop techniques in the final movement.
The battery book contains intermediate to advanced A Class Vocabulary :
 
- The snare book contains the following skill-sets and techniques:
  • 16th note paradiddle, and paradiddle-diddle patterns at 168BPM and 172BPM
  • Triplet rolls (3 counts max) at 168BPM and 172BPM with occasional crescendo and diminuendo phrasing
  • cross-over paradiddles (Buddy Rich style)
  • Stick shots and buzz presses
  • 16th note herta passages at 168BPM and 172BPM
  • Rim + Rim Knock latin patterns 
- The Tenor book contains some of the same skill-sets and techniques as the snare book with the following included:
  • Some cross-over paradiddle patterns at 168BPM and 172BPM
  • Cross-over double stop patterns on drums 3 and 4
- The bass drum book contains the following techniques:
  • 8th note (1's) and 16th note (2's) splits at 168BPM and 172BPM
  • Syncopated unison patterns at 168BPM and 172BPM
