Synopsis:
The vastness of space calls, pulling us beyond our limits and into the unknown. Gravity is a breathtaking journey through the forces that hold us down and the ambition that drives us upward. The show begins with Eric Whitacre’s Fly to Paradise, as the left side of the field represents Earth—a place of comfort and security—while the right side stretches into the great beyond. As the music swells, performers move toward the right, drawn by the allure of weightlessness and the dream of flight. Massive celestial props and floating visuals enhance the illusion of defying gravity, as the ensemble soars into the depths of space.
But what goes up must come down. The haunting strains of Sara Bareilles’ Gravity bring a moment of reflection, as the realization sets in—no matter how far we go, we are always tethered to something. Performers struggle against invisible forces, shifting back toward the left side of the field as gravity tightens its grip. Just when all seems lost, the show erupts into Enterprising Young Men by Michael Giacchino—a triumphant surge of energy as science, determination, and sheer willpower push us beyond our limits. Gravity may pull, but it cannot stop the human spirit from reaching for the stars.
