Utilizing a ticking clock motif representing the passage of time as well as a fresh palate of musical selections, styles, and genres, A Change of Seasons will be sure to provide a new twist on a popular marching band show concept.
Segment 1 begins by illustrating the lively splendor of the Summer. Utilizing Mendelssohn's A Midsummer Night's Dream, Vivaldi's Summer from the 4 seasons as well as Irving Berlin's famous tune Some Sunny Day, this segment exudes the summer season with plenty of flashy solos and exciting rhythmic changes throughout.
Segment 2 slows things down as we transition into the fall season. This segment utilizes Vivaldi's Autumn from the 4 seasons, Edward MacDowell's In Autumn from his collection "Woodland Sketches No.4" as well as Tchaikovsky's Autumn Song.
Segment 3 showcases the darkness and dread that many people associate with winter. A departure from the previous 2 segments, this one utilizes Vivaldi's Winter from the 4 seasons coupled with the music used in The Battle of Winterfell from Game of Thrones. This segment comes to a chaotic close as everything falls apart (illustrated utilizing a sound design of cuckoo clocks crashing to the ground). This chaos leads us to the final segmnet of the show.
What is old becomes new in this vibrant close to the show. The Spring season brings everything back to life. This spirited closer employs some rich song selections: Beginning with Stravinsky's Firebird Suite, which masterfully transitions into a fun and hip arrangement of Here Comes the Sun, the colors and majesty of Spring are in full effect. The show comes to an exciting close utilizing movement 4 of Respighi's Pines of Rome
